My dad was also in the Navy and this is my first Memorial Day without him. He passed on Thanksgiving Day. One of his last good days was Veteran’s Day, and I was able to go with him to the celebration at the Assisted Living facility he was living at. He and my mom were big supporters as I started my piano studio. They were at every recital, helping with whatever I needed and video-taping the program. My mom passed a few years ago, and although Dad wasn’t up for the 75-minute drive anymore, he always asked about my students. Sorry for rambling on - I miss him very much.

My dad served in the Air Force post Korea, and my husband is a former Marine. He has brothers who served in various branches of the armed forces, as did his deceased father. I am so thankful for all who served and gave their lives for my freedom.

In Honor of Memorial Day & A Giveaway!!!

My dad was a Navy veteran and even though I spent much of my childhood missing him, I'm proud of the work he did serving our great country.  He recently passed away so this Memorial Day has an even greater meaning to me.

MANSION OF MUSIC

Have your students build their own mansion while also working on identifying notes on the grand staff!  They need 4 walls, 2 windows, 1 door, 1 chimney, and a roof!

Students collect the pieces while working their way around the board!

This game includes the game board, directions, mansion building cards, and player game cards.  Just add some game pieces and you're all set!

The game is rated for 2-4 players so get them playing and see just how many notes on the staff they learn after one game!!

Road Signs! and Giveaway!

I have gotten loads of requests about the road signs I used when I put together RoadTrip USA!  Up until now, they weren't available.  BUT, if you are interested, I have made them available as a PDF in my store!

These are great signs to use with RoadTrip USA!, but you can also use them for any travel decor in your studio or classroom.  

There are a total of 6 signs.  They can be printed as 8.5" x 11" or you can have them blown up for a larger image.

They work great as "station" signs separating areas of learning.  For information about how I used them, check out this blog entry.

World Adventure! Giveaway is Almost Here!

World Adventure! has all the information you need for each activity including a supply list and detailed instructions.  It also includes many resources you can print out and information you need to make individual pieces.  If you'd like to run this as a camp, I've provided detailed information as to how I ran mine with a printable passport and stickers for each country!  In addition, there is a word wall of unique world instruments that you can easily print out!

I ran this camp twice last summer and my students told me it was one of the best camps...EVER!  They often ask me during lessons if we can play a game or do an activity we did at World Adventure! last summer.
