I was recently contacted by EarTrainingPro, an online ear training program, asking me to review the program and make suggestions. I found the program to be a wonderful tool for use in my studio - another great option for my computer lab. The program has drills for intervals, chords, relative pitch, scales, etc.
I have also been given the opportunity to offer 2 of you the use of the program for FREE! (A nice little Christmas gift for your studio!) Simply leave me a comment telling me your favorite teaching memory during Christmas time and you will have the chance to win. If you also reference this giveaway on your blog, you can add another comment letting me know that you did, giving yourself a second opportunity to win!
The 2 winners will be announced next Wednesday, December 23rd at noon (East Coast Time!).
I love choosing Christmas music for my students to learn at this time of year. It's wonderful to watch their eyes light up and the learning process begin when the piece perfectly suits the student.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite memories of Christmas in my studio is our traditional Music at the Mall event where students play a couple Christmas pieces and Christmas camp, a 4 hour workshop surrounded by a Christmas/holiday theme. Students and I both look forward to this time.
ReplyDeleteJust posted about the giveaway on my blog: www.FPSResources.wordpress.com
ReplyDeleteThis looks like an interesting product!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite Christmas teaching memory is a Christmas recital we had where family members were invited to make music with their children. One dad sang a solo while his daughters accompanied him, several siblings played together, one mother and son played together. It was beautiful to watch families making music together.
My favorite Christmas memory with my students was the year that I took them to play at the skilled nursing facility where I was doing my music therapy internship. They did a beautiful job and the residents who were able clapped and cheered. After the performance the center brought out ice cream for everyone and the students spontaneously began helping serve. Some of the students and their parents even fed the residents who needed assistance. It was a great afternoon of sharing and love.
ReplyDeleteI love to see the excitement and joy of first-year students when they play their favourite Christmas songs, especially if they can play them at school or at church. I have a little 5yo boy this year who loves to play "Awake in a Manger" LOL
ReplyDeleteMy favorite memory of Christmas in my studio is playing for a local nursing home. Because of bad weather only four students were able to come. After the three beginners played, the high school boy played jazz for 20 minutes. The residents LOVED it! And so did he.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite Christmas teaching moment this year was hearing the Jingle Bells Improvisation one of my students came up with. My student who has been taking lessons for the shortest amount of time really impressed me with her creativity and it was fun to see her confidence grow through this experience. I loved seeing each of their personalities come out in their music!
ReplyDeleteI love finding the the perfect Christmas piece for my students. One year I found a piece that I thought would be perfect for one of my students. At the recital the parents cried saying there was not a more perfect piece and they have never heard her play so good in her life.
ReplyDeleteI posted about this on my blog... Thanks for the reminder. I also still have on my very long "to do" list - accepting the blogging award you gave me a while back:) Maybe after the holidays when the kids are back in school. I love reading about all of the fun events you do in your studio!
ReplyDeleteGreat product. This would be wonderful to use when teaching one sibling and putting another sibling on my computer!
